Senator Imee R. Marcos, in coordination with Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc of the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte, extended support to the province by deploying five (5) medical teams to communities devastated by Super Typhoon (ST) “Egay” on July 26.

Senator Marcos regard ST “Egay” as the “most powerful” storm to hit the region in decades, causing widespread destruction to homes, infrastructure, and livelihoods, leaving countless families distressed.

The former Ilocos Norte Governor and her team arrived in the province on July 28 to reinforce the province's post-calamity responses.

During their situational briefing on July 29, she coordinated the delivery of emergency responses, including free medical consults and the immediate conduct of “Oplan Dalus,” an extensive cleaning operation, among others.

She enjoined Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center, Governor Roque Ablan Senior Memorial Hospital, Bangui District Hospital, and the Provincial Health Office to commence free medical services, particularly for diabetes, hypertension, high blood pressure, diarrhea, cough, and colds for children and adults.

Moreover, Senator Marcos urged all mayors of Ilocos Norte to initiate and organize “Oplan Dalus” teams, especially in low-lying, coastal, and isolated barangays.

She highlighted the importance of the cleaning activity, saying:

"We are very concerned that there are great pools of stagnant water. We need to disinfect them as soon as possible at mag-umpisa ng Oplan Dalus. I am enjoining all mayors to organize, as quickly as possible, lalo na yung mga barangay na coastal at hindi naaabutan, na gumawa nang mga team para sa Oplan Dalus. Ayaw naman natin na ang susunod sa bagyo ay sakit naman na malaria, cholera, dengue, at iba pa."
