Ilokano artisans shine in Miss Ilocos Norte 2025 designer showcase

As part of the preliminary events for Miss Ilocos Norte 2025, the vibrant creativity of Ilokano designers took center stage with the annual Ilokano Designer Showcase at the Marcos Stadium on April 25.


This much-anticipated highlight of the pageant season brought together 24 talented local designers, each presenting their unique interpretation of the iconic Philippine “terno.”


More than just a competition, the designer showcase is an opportunity for the candidates to model the visionary creations of Ilocos Norte’s emerging fashion talents. Each designer received seed funding to bring their concepts to life, resulting in a dazzling display of ingenuity and cultural pride. 


Gracing the opening segment was Miss Ilocos Norte 2024, Angelie Caraang, who inspired both designers and candidates with her presence and elegance.


A distinguished panel of judges, composed of icons from the local and national fashion industry, evaluated the entries. Among them were Mr. Windell Madis, a TernoCon 2025 finalist who received the Chief Mentor Award; Mr. June Samson Pugat, TernoCon 2020 finalist and University of the Philippines Diliman BS Clothing Technology graduate; and Ms. Amor Albano, TernoCon 2023 finalist and Chief Mentor Awardee.


Meanwhile, one of the local designers, Francisco Pascual emphasized the importance of innovation while honoring tradition, saying: 


“We are challenged to think outside the box—not just for ourselves, but for the entire community of Ilokano designers. It’s about pushing boundaries while still capturing the timeless beauty of the Ilokana spirit.


Let us keep pushing forward, keep dreaming, and never stop exploring new possibilities. Dream big—not just for yourself, but for the future of Ilokano fashion,” Pascual added.


The Ilokano Designer Showcase continues to be a witness to the province’s commitment to nurturing local talent and celebrating Ilocano heritage through fashion. 


The coronation night of the Miss Ilocos Norte will commence at the renowned Ilocos Norte Centennial Arena on April 30.
