PGIN’s PESO still region’s best

The Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte (PGIN) sustained its position as the Regional's Best PESO for 2023 during the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) Year-End Performance Assessment and Planning Exercise cum 2024 Congress in Alaminos City, Pangasinan, on March 13.

PGIN-PESO also received the same recognition in 2017, 2019, and 2022. It  was also recognized for achieving the Highest Number of Individuals Reached through Labor Market Information, the Highest Number of Hires on the Spot during Job Fairs, the Highest Number of Applicants Placed, being the Best Implementer of the TUPAD Program, having the Highest Number of Registered Employers, winning the Kabuhayan Awards 2023 for Implementing Livelihood Programs, being the Top Performing PESO in Career Development Support Programs, receiving Special Citations for Implementing Job Start Philippines, and for Timely and Complete Submission of Statistical Performance Reporting System.

These awards were earned as a result of the Provincial Government’s steadfast efforts and commitment to facilitating employment opportunities and fostering economic growth in the Ilocos region.

Currently, the Province of Ilocos Norte boasts an employment rate of 98.9% and has the lowest poverty incidence in the region at 2.5%.

PGIN’s PESO has been offering various key programs, including Saguip Nars, “Naruay a Panggedan” Job Fair, Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES), MDG Caravan, the PGIN Jobstart-Work Readiness Program, “My Skills IN My Future” Career Guidance Counseling, and the WorkINIlocosNorte.ph-Online Job Portal.

In 2023 alone, 110 individuals were hired through the “Saguip Nars” Program, while 299 students benefited from SPES, and 50 individuals participated in the Work Readiness Program. 

Mrs. Anne Marie Lizette B. Atuan, Officer-in-Charge of PESO, expressed her gratitude, stating, "It is a great pleasure to receive this award once again. This recognition not only acknowledges the award itself but also recognizes the initiatives implemented by PGIN under the leadership of our Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc."

PGIN remains committed and intends to further strengthen its employment services and programs, collaborating with various stakeholders to empower the workforce and foster a prosperous future for Ilocos Norte.
