“Today, of course, we mark the 206th Foundation Anniversary of our dear province, and we are reminded that we are but a small part of the province's history, and we are humbled when we contextualize our small role,” Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc remarked during the commemoration of the 206th Foundation Anniversary of Ilocos Norte on February 2.

“Yet, however small our role may be, we are also cognizant of its importance and our responsibility as stewards of the great province of Ilocos Norte. And most importantly, our accountability to the people—the great people of the province—who made our province truly great,” he continued.

Governor Marcos Manotoc stressed that the foundation anniversary is a reaffirmation of the Provincial Government’s commitment to the province's betterment and to serving its people.

“Of course, today we will conduct several distributions to our key stakeholders to mark our continued commitment and service to our kakailian,” he added.

The Governor ended by encouraging the Ilokano community to join him in shaping the new chapter in the province's history. He urged everyone, including our kakailian, to make it a chapter that can be looked back on with great pride and joy.

The Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte commenced the month-long celebration through the distribution of over P 32 million worth of assistance and the groundbreaking ceremony of the Ilocos Norte Central Terminal Hub and Parking Building.

The highlights of the celebration is the highly anticipated "11th Tan-ok ni Ilokano: Festival of Festivals" on February 16 at the Ferdinand Edralin Marcos Stadium, where 21 municipalities and two cities will showcase their rich culture and tradition.
