The Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte,  and component local government units of the province are gearing up for the staging of the 11th “Tan-ok ni Ilocano: Festival of Festivals,” the grandest cultural showdown in the province, on February 16, at the Ferdinand E. Marcos Memorial Stadium in Laoag City.

As highlight of its 206th foundation anniversary, the province will welcome the founder of this premiere cultural event, the former Governor of Ilocos Norte and now Senator Imee R. Marcos as the guest of honor and speaker on the festival night.

This year’s theme revolve around Ilokano oral traditions, in recognition of the Gawad Manlilikha ng Bayan Awardee for oral traditions, Mrs. Adelita R. Bagcal, known as the “dallot queen” of the province. Dallot is a native chant delivered during special occasions by the Ilokano community, namely during birthdays, weddings, and fiestas, among others.

The 23 contingents are now on their final stages of preparation for their performance on the festival night, representing the distinct tradition, folklore, livelihood, and history of their town.

In addition to the cultural showdown, attendees also have the opportunity to enjoy the music of the Filipino rapper and singer-songwriter Flow G during his live performance.

The “Tan-ok ni Ilocano: Festival of Festivals” remains to be one of the province’s grandest celebration, attracting thousands of attendees from all over the country to experience genuine Ilokano culture.

Through vibrant performances, captivating storytelling, and community camaraderie, the festival serves as a testament to the enduring spirit of the Ilokano community.
