Gov. Marcos Manotoc leads RDC-1 2nd Quarter Meeting in Ilocos Norte

Regional Development Council-1 (RDC) Chairperson, Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc, along with RDC-1 Vice-Chairperson Ms. Mary Jane Ortega, led the RDC 2nd Quarter Full Council Meeting for the Calendar Year 2025 at the Fort Ilocandia Resort and Hotel in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, on June 27.

Presidential Assistant for Northern Luzon, ASec. Ana Carmela Ventura-Remigio, and National Economic and Development Authority Senior Economic Development Specialist Mr. Ednore Freynon Perez also attended the event.

The meeting aimed to drive regional growth, sustainable development, and foster fruitful collaborations among key stakeholders. The council which includes representatives from various sectors, government agencies, and local community leaders, convened to discuss critical issues and formulate strategic plans that will determine the future of the region.

Subjects discussed in the meeting included budget allocations, proposals of regional priority programs, the schedule of RDP 2023-2028 provincial launches, the report of the 2022 regional development plan, and the drafting of regional tourism plans for the year 2023 to 2028, among others.

"We all know of course the crucial role that the RDC can play not only for the region but as for the county and it’s our time that we not only activate our RDC but also we maximize the output and the results that come" Gov. Marcos Manotoc stated.

The RDC meeting also served as a platform to highlight successful regional initiatives and ongoing projects that have yielded positive outcomes followed by an awarding ceremony that showcased examples of sustainable development, community empowerment, and effective public-private partnerships, demonstrating the potential for change when stakeholders work together towards a common goal.

The meeting concluded with the Memorandum of Agreement signing with Northwind Power Development Corporation, and North Luzon Renewable Energy Corporation to further bolster the region’s bid in renewable energy.

RDC-1 remains steadfast in its commitment to regional development, embracing inclusivity, innovation, and sustainability as guiding principles. By promoting cooperation and collaboration among stakeholders, the council pursues to create a prosperous region that offers opportunities and improved quality of life.
