To champion holistic development among local youth organizations and volunteer groups, the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte (PGIN) through the Ilocos Norte Youth Development Office (INYDO) conducted a 3-day mandatory and continuing training with the theme, “Ituloy NatIN,” at Northview Hotel, Laoag City on April 26 to 28.

More than 50 members of Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Councils, Youth Development Officers, and Youth Council Members of Ilocos Norte attended the annual training and workshop of INYDO.

The training program emphasized the significance of volunteering, governance,  managing budget, and effective implementation of programs and projects among others,  in an effort to empower and strengthen the passion of the Filipino youth for community involvement towards national development.

The said activity was graced by Governor Mathew Marcos Manotoc, the inducting officer. He extended his support to the youth sector in Ilocos Norte, saying:

“We want to talk to you, we want to engage you and most importantly, we want to make sure that our programs are really well-suited para sa ating mga problema at sa ating mga needs ng mga communities natin.”

Moreover, the training program included team building activities and workshops on various topics including school and community formation, parliamentary procedure, youth volunteerism, project management, and project and budget proposal making, among others.

“Sa ating agtutubong Ilokano, I'm one with you, and I really want to make sure you guys are not only heard but you guys also served fully and well by our administration. Kaya I want to make sure to come here, to greet all of you, to thank you, and to just express that  I really look forward to work(ing) with all of you,” Governor Marcos Manotoc expressed.

As one of the pioneers of Sirib Express, a provincial-wide youth caravan, Gov. Marcos Manotoc’s outreach initiative, continues to play a vital role in ensuring that the needs and concerns of the youth are represented in terms of legislation and government support.
